About

We had to keep an eye over our shoulders for a minute on this one! The Rose has long been a fiercely loved and protected classic Melbourne footy pub – when word got out of a renovation, locals had a vested interest. Thankfully, an on-the-ball client (pun! not sorry) and a talented designer were behind it, and the outcome couldn’t be better.

The building’s original features were maintained and built upon, with brick walls being sandblasted and concrete floors polished to highlight its rich character. Before, the pub was cosy to the point of poky; knocking out some walls created an open, vibrant, cohesive space anchored by a large central bar. Comprised of locally sourced timber and plywood, the bar is fitted with custom-designed and made, detailed inset timber panels. The dining area at the rear of the space has a sumptuous new take on booth dining, with leather banquettes and a diamond-patterned routed plywood wall.

A beautiful, thoughtful project that retained the best of an original building and brought it into the 21st century – thanks Harrison Interiors for another project to keep our skills sharp!
